About Mrs. Annam

I am Mrs. Annam Senthil Kumar. I come from the Nagarathar Community also known as Chettiar Community from Chettinad. I am the editor, photographer and author of this blog annamsrecipes.com I live in Chennai. I did my graduation in Mathematics at Chennai QMC College. I am interested in cooking, gardening, art and crafts, painting and needle work. I have a vast collection of recipes, which I have been collected over 25 years.

I learned cooking from my mom. She is a good Home maker. She only taught me all traditional cooking techniques and recipes.

After completing my mathematics graduation at chennai, I got married to S. Senthil kumar of Madurai. I have one son. His name is Arvind. In those days when we were in Madurai, I had the opportunity to participate in many food festivals and carnivals. Where I also had the opportunity to participate in many cooking, baking, arts and crafts workshops organized by Lions club and Maditssia, Madurai.

During this period I got the exposure as well as experience as the workshops were conducted by many leading star hotels of Madurai. This gave me the courage and experience to write my books on all regular and special recipes in Tamil. I have written 5 books in Tamil, on soup, juice, nutritional cooking, diabetic cooking and star hotel restaurant recipes. This only also made me organize and publish these blog-Annams recipes. Then I was engaged as a guest author in Anantha Vikatan Publications for about four years and I was regularly contributing to almost all their publications like Aval Vikatan, Doctor Vikatan, Sakthi Vikatan, Aval Kitchen, etc, During the same time I was also doing regular cookery shows in “Rusikkalam Vanga” in Puthu yugam TV and in “Pothigai” TV Channel.

Though I am a strict vegetarian I cook all non-vegetarian dishes like fish, chicken, mutton etc for my son and husband.

I try a lot of new recipes. Though I specialized in chettinad cooking recipes, I am more interested in trying out all North Indian Recipes and Chinese recipes.

I started my youtube channel Annams Recipes in 2012, but from 2019 only I became active and started to share my recipes regularly. Now I have nearly 300k subscribers. I aloe post my videos on cooking tips in Facebook and Instagram, where I have nearly 150k and 30k subscribers respectively.

Since my subscribers and followers were constantly requesting me to prepare masalas and food products for them, I started my own food products manufacturing FSSAI registered venture in the name and style of Annams from 2020 and started selling my products throughout the World in my own online shop Annamsshop.com.

Now 6 employees are engaged in catering to the needs of all our subscribers. Now we sell nearly 70 traditional products and we receive very good response and feedback both directly and on Google.

We have more plans to come out with more traditional products and nurture traditional cooking methods.

This site www.annamsrecipes.com is a new venture to bring out my works in English to make it more beneficial to the Tamils living around the World.
